Celebrating Me

I’m head strong. At times I’m stubborn.  I can be moody, temperamental, sensitive, and hasty.  I tend to fret, dissect things to death, and occasionally I’m very short on patience. Those are my flaws.

On the other hand I am an extremely loving, passionate person. I love to laugh and make others laugh. I’m hard working and motivated.  I'm nurturing.  Those are my strengths.

Today, I embrace all of me. I accept myself for all that I am and all that I’m not. I am special. I am uniquely and wonderfully made by God. He loves me as I am, so I should too. As I continue to pray, grow and develop I will remember to love and celebrate me….all of me.

I'm Expecting!

I feel like my life is spinning out of control. How exciting is that!? It’s not in a bad way. It’s a good thing. I have so many things going on right now I can’t believe it. I’m feeling overwhelmed, excited, nervous, and hungry for it all at the same time. I kind of feel like an expecting mother in her 8th month of pregnancy about to give birth to her first born.

I remember how I felt when I was pregnant with my son. I was afraid. This was a totally new experience I was about to embark on that was completely unfamiliar to me. Parenthood. I felt challenged to emerge as an individual so that I could contribute into the life of my unborn child. I was thrilled and elated about the living being that was growing inside of me. I remember all the preparation I did during my pregnancy term. I went to classes. I read books. I sought out the advice and the wisdom of others who already had children. And then somewhere around the 7th or 8th month I can recall becoming extremely uncomfortable; physically, emotionally, and mentally. I was ready. I wanted it to be over. It hurt at times. It was distressing but I knew in a matter of time a beautiful little baby boy was going to come from me and my life would never be the same.

So that’s where I am today. Feels like I’m about to give birth to my dreams and ambitions. My dream is blossoming inside of me as the days pass. The discomfort is there. I can hardly wait. In the meantime, I will prepare. I will continue to learn. I will nurture my body and cultivate my mind so when it springs forth I will be strong, healthy and prepared to sustain the fruits of my labor!

I told you guys that Abundance is my mantra for 2010. I believe God for an abundance of love, health, wealth, peace & joy. I’m pressing through this “term”, this season with anticipation of what’s to come. Whew! Yeah, I think I just had a contraction. I’m definitely feeling the growing pains…but I know it’s going to be so worth it, just as it was when I gave birth to my son. Yes! It’s a good thing!

How Bad Do You Want It?

What are you passionate about?  Do you have dreams?  Have you set any goals?  What's your game plan?   Can you visualize yourself reaping the rewards?  Do you truly believe you can do it!?!

If you're not clear on the answers to these questions chances are you lack the self-motivation necessary to make things happen in life.

With all that I have going on in my life, without self-motivation God only knows where I would be. One of the lessons I learned early on in my life is that sometimes we have to encourage ourselves.  Sometimes we have to be our own cheerleader.  We have to tune out the haters and go for it.

Self- Motivation: the will, the push, the unction to press on with little or no encouragement from others.

How self-motivated are you today?

“If you want a thing bad enough to go out and fight for it,
to work day and night for it,
to give up your time, your peace and your sleep for it…
if all that you dream and scheme is about it,
and life seems useless and worthless without it…
if you gladly sweat for it and fret for it and plan for it
and lose all your terror of the opposition for it…
if you simply go after that thing you want
with all of your capacity, strength and sagacity,
faith, hope and confidence and stern pertinacity…
if neither cold, poverty, famine, nor gout,
sickness nor pain, of body and brain,
can keep you away from the thing that you want…
if dogged and grim you beseech and beset it,
with the help of God, you will get it!”
