False Evidence Appearing Real

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by fear - so much so that it prevented you from doing something you wanted to do?  Do you have a fear of public speaking, fear of flying in an airplane, or  fear of  starting your own business?

Fear has the power to hold you back from living your life to the fullest.  It will keep you from taking risks, following your dreams, or becoming successful at anything you attempt to do. If you allow fear to control you for long enough, it may may eventually destroy your quality of life and keep you locked in a prison of inactivity.

Fear is a natural reaction to a frightening or unfamiliar situation. While it is usually automatic, there are things you can do to overcome it.

Examine your expectations.  One major component of fear is the prevalence of negative expectations or emotions. Do you usually find yourself expecting the worst in every situation?  Do you worry obsessively about what could go wrong, rather than focusing on your strengths and capabilities?

Try instead to make a conscious effort to expect the best, see the positive side of each situation and keep reminding yourself that you can handle more than you often think. Even if feelings of fear do manage to creep into your consciousness, you'll still be able to keep them in perspective and balance them against an underlying sense of confidence.

Discredit your fears.  Remember Fear is "False Evidence Appearing Real".  Research shows that the majority of things we fear never actually come to pass. While this may be true, it sure doesn't feel that way when fear has you in a headlock does it!?!

Well, I am encouraging you to do the very thing you fear anyway.  Remember faith and fear cannot co-exist.  The choice is yours. If you are going to live a life of faith then you that means you are choosing to take risks, try new things, explore new territories, venture out.  Don't let fear keep you captive.  Live!

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." --2 Timothy 1:7
