Skin Care 101

Tonight I decided to do an entry on a few Skin care Tips.

1.  Always check the ingredients to see if it the product contains things that you might be allergic to.  Also check if it contains high concentration chemicals that can harm your skin.

2.  Limit or avoid breakouts by doing test spots with product.  Apply product to your     earlobes or your jawline to see how your skin is going to react .

3.  Try to avoid skin care products or make-up that contain fragrance.  Generally I have found fragrance, while it smells good tends to cause irritations.

4.  Skin Care Products don't last forever!  Keep track of expiration dates on your products.  If your product has an expiration date be careful not to use them beyond that date.

5. Cleanliness is next to Godliness!  Okay maybe that's over the top but I did get your attention.  :)   Cleanliness is an important aspect of good make up and skin care etiquette. This can apply to several aspects of good skin care:
  • Don't go to sleep with a dirty face or face full of make up
  • Clean your brushes regularly,  don't reuse sponges over and over again
  • Sharpen your eye-liners regularly

**You may find it helpful to set a date, each month, for clearing out your cosmetics bag.  Oh yeah ladies and please remember another aspect of cleanliness that enhances your make up and skin care process includes keeping your hair clean. (oil and product build up in dirty hair does not contribute to a healthy glowing complexion)

6.  Try not to apply foundation that makes you look 5 shades lighter or darker.  There should not be a line across your chin!  If you have difficulty finding a foundation shade that's right for you Motives Cosmetics has a fantastic custom blend foundation.  (it really IS fantastic!)

7.  Use eye make up remover for stubborn eye make up that won't come off.  Avoid pulling and tugging on your eyes when applying or removing makeup.  The skin around your eye area is very delicate.

8.  If you have a skin disorder or acne, you should try to avoid heavy or chemical based make up. Consult your dermatologist if you are not sure about the make up products that you can use while you have acne or other skin disorder. Never try to squeeze pimples/ acne.  Remember that make up and skin care should not conflict each other.
