Valentine's Day: A Thin Line Between Love & Hate

My initial thoughts of Valentine's Day this year we're:
"This Sucks!" ,"I'm staying in Bed", and "My, how I would love to have a Loving Man in my life.

Thank God, very quickly those thoughts faded
and I was reminded that I'm surrounded by Love:
God's Love, Love from Friends, Family & Self Love

Then came the "voice of reason" affirming me...
I'm single-
not sick, not abnormal, and definitely not desparate.

Besides, I can always make myself
a special candlelight dinner...
;-)

...and how rewarding it will be
when the time is right for me
to truly give my HEART away

.....in the meantime
I will continue to Live, Love & Laugh!

and not allow my heart to grow bitter or resentful
but stronger and remain open to love.

I am an Open, Joyful, Grateful Woman
&
I Choose LOVE!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !

Be a Difference Maker!

The closet in my home office has been deemed as the "coat closet".  Last week when I opened the closet door I was quite annoyed at the limited space in there due to the amount of coats that my darling angels had literally shoved in there. (sarcasm intended)  I started removing them and observed these coats were in great condition.  They weren't discarding them because they were ruined but because they'd either outgrown them or no longer found them fashionable. I decided to gather them all up in my car and delivered them to a community organization that provides them to children in need.

Small acts of kindness truly go a long way in the lives of others.  This past year I know some reading this may have been laid off or loss their employment due to downsizing.  Undoubtedly you are experiencing financial difficulty. If you have a desire to give but are having a financial hardship be encouraged!  Often times we can bless others without it costing us a dime when we give with our heart.

My challenge to you reading this is to search your home or apartment.  Look around to see what you can find to donate/give to be a blessing to someone this holiday season.  Remember, you can donate your time or talent as well.  A few years ago during the holidays I contacted a local women's domestic violence shelter and gave all the young ladies a pampering session.  I can tell it meant a lot to those young ladies. It also blessed me tremendously by doing it.  There are lots of community organizations that need volunteers.  Be Creative.  It really is more blessed to give than to receive!

I would love to hear about it what you come up with.  Post a comment back here and let me know what your doing to make a difference.

Lessons in Life & Love: part 1

I have received a few inquiries about my previous post Insanity and the progress I am making.  You guys will be pleased to know that I have gone out a few times since that post.  You will also be pleased to know that I am having a great time.  So as promised here goes, Here are 5 Things I learned from my journey thus far:

  1. As I meet new people, I have determined to remain open minded.  We've already established that doing the same things over and over expecting different results defines insanity.  So I've taken steps to move out from my comfort zone, to smile and introduce myself  to others that I may not have necessarily spoken to in the past.  I am pleased to say,  I've met some pretty amazing individuals over the past few months as a result.
  2. Relationships serve different purposes.  Sometimes we hinder relationships because we try to make them become something they are simply not meant to be.  Likewise, we can also overlook an individual who clearly wants to become "more" in our lives.
  3. I have to keep self- growth as my focus. It's amazing what happens when we continue to work on ourselves. We truly are the love we seek!
  4. I talk too much!  Learning to listen more and talk less.  Stephen R. Covey says, "Seek first to Understand then to be understood". Great advice! -  Still working on this!  : )
  5. I have a tendency to take things way too seriously.  I'm learning to just have fun!  I'm enjoying the journey and remembering not to become fixated on the outcome. This like every other aspect of my life is a walk of faith.  It's amazing how liberating this is.  God is Writing My Love Story!  and no good thing will he withhold from me. <3

Celebrating Me

I’m head strong. At times I’m stubborn.  I can be moody, temperamental, sensitive, and hasty.  I tend to fret, dissect things to death, and occasionally I’m very short on patience. Those are my flaws.

On the other hand I am an extremely loving, passionate person. I love to laugh and make others laugh. I’m hard working and motivated.  I'm nurturing.  Those are my strengths.

Today, I embrace all of me. I accept myself for all that I am and all that I’m not. I am special. I am uniquely and wonderfully made by God. He loves me as I am, so I should too. As I continue to pray, grow and develop I will remember to love and celebrate me….all of me.
